To Sell Themis Systems and VMEbus Computing Solutions in Spain
and Portugal
Aspid Comunicaciones to expand Themis' presence
in the growing South-European communications and embedded
computing markets
FREMONT, California -- August
28, 2003 - Themis Computer announced the selection
of Aspid Comunicaciones (AspidCom) to sell its server, VMEbus,
cPCI computer, and graphics solutions into the growing communications
and embedded systems markets of the Iberic peninsula. Building
on its successes in Northern Europe, Themis Computer selected
AspidCom to sell its extended operating environment systems
and VMEbus computer solutions to communications, government,
and embedded systems customers in Spain and Portugal.
Formerly a subsidiary of Tekelec in Spain, AspidCom started
its independent operations in the summer of 2000, from headquarters
in Madrid, Spain. The AspidCom group continued its growth,
opening offices in Portugal and in Italy in 2001. Today, AspidCom
has offices in Madrid, Milan, Rome, and will soon open new
offices in Athens, Greece. With its organization of more than
45 people, AspidCom is a leader in distribution and systems
integration, enabling the company to design and install reliable,
turnkey solutions. Aspid's activities range from electronic
component distribution to the sale of complex automated test
equipment. The Group's sales focus extends from telecommunications
to commercial (wireless LAN) and industrial market segments.
In all of its markets, Aspid is distinguished by strong customer
service and technical support.
AspidCom will sell Themis' new UltraSPARC® III-based
VME bus computer and dual-processor servers, featuring the
fast new processor technologies from Sun® Microsystems
and Intel®. Themis' rugged family of COTS servers provide
users high performance, with features such as: RAID hardware
controllers, InfiniBand® PCI bridge technology and Themis'
rugged TPX-4, Infiniband enabled PCI expansion systems.
Designed to survive shock loads in excess of 20G, Themis servers
offer outstanding platform performance, dependability and
value, for harsh service environments. AspidCom will also
sell Themis' new VMEBus and CompactPCI families of UltraSPARC-based
board products, the highest performance rugged single-board
computers available today. Compatible with the Solaris
Operating Environment, the industry's leading Unix operating
system, Themis' single-board computers enable users to access
thousands of off-the-shelf Solaris software solutions.
"Themis Computer, with its innovative new dual-processor
systems and VMEBus boards, is a perfect partner for us",
stated Pablo Alvarez Rabanos, systems division director of
AspidCom. "Themis' new UltraSPARC III VMEbus computer
and rugged servers enable us to market highly reliable and
scalable solutions with exceptional value."

III-based VMEbus computer and ruggedized servers will give
AspidCom's customers access to the next generation of embedded
computer solutions", stated William E. Kehret, president
