Themis Computer Announces a New Family of
AMD-based
Single Processor VMEbus Computers
AMD 64-bit processors provide the reliability,
scalability and high performance to run Mission-Critical Linux,
Sun Solaris 9 and 10, and Microsoft Windows XP applications
with Themis' new TA64 VMEbus Computers
FREMONT, California -- February
22, 2005 - - Themis Computer has announced a new family
of TA64 VMEbus computers. The TA64 is the first in a
new family of 6U VMEbus computer boards and is based on AMD's
Turion 64 Mobile processor. The TA64 is backward
compatible with the USPIIe Single Board Computer, at
the application source code level, and features front panel
and backplane compatibility, including all I/O, switches and
indicators. The TA64 runs 32-bit Sun®Solaris
8 and 9, and 64-bit Solaris 10, Windows® and Linux®.
Themis' new TA64 VMEbus computers demonstrate its commitment
to provide embedded computing markets with the industry's
widest breadth of high performance VME single board computers.
The TA64 has an on-board PMC Slot and inter-board stacking
connector that allows expansion for graphics and PMC carrier
cards.
The TA64 includes a high performance Universe II VME64x
interface, dual Ultra320 interface, two 10/100/1000 Ethernet
ports, two or more USB ports, AC97 audio, two serial ports,
and one PS/2 port. These VME64 boards are available in one,
two and three slot configurations that offer a wide range
of I/O and performance options
The cost-effective TA64 single-slot configuration features
a single Gigabit Ethernet port, support for Dual Ultra320
SCSI drives and a single 64-bit PMC slot. Memory is expandable
to 4 GBytes of DDR333 memory. The 64-bit PMC slot can be used
for local I/O or graphics expansion. Further I/O expansion
is available via 64-bit PCI carrier cards. Expansion with
a carrier card provides a significant increase in capabilities.
Designed for highest level of configuration flexibility and
performance, the TA64 I/O expansion is supported via an
inter-board stacking connector. Two PCI carrier cards allow
expansion to a maximum of seven PMC slots.
The 2P2 carrier card offers multiple I/O expansion options,
including two additional 64-bit PMC slots. This expanded I/O
configuration provides AC97 audio, a second Gigabit Ethernet
port with front panel RJ45, two multiprotocol serial ports
and a software readable front panel rotary switch. These features
make it ideal for data and telecommunications applications.
The 2P3 carrier card provides three additional 64-bit, 33MHz
PMC slots, maximizing user configurability.
Based on the AMD mobile Turion 64 processor, Themis' cost-effective
TA64 has low (45 watt) power dissipation for a board of its
class, and is highly flexible, making it suitable for high
performance, embedded computing applications.
"Our TA64 single board computer provides low power
options along with the high performance, reliability and scalability
required by today's increasingly demanding applications,"
stated William E. Kehret, president of Themis Computer. "These
new SBCs provide a migration path for Solaris and its applications,
while providing a new, cost effective and high performance
host, for a broad range of LINUX and Windows applications.
Today Themis Computer offers rugged AMD and SPARC-based VMEbus
and Compact PCI single board computers, for the most demanding
voice and data applications," Mr. Kehret added.
Significant features of the Top64-LP family of VMEbus computers
include:
AMD Mobile Turion 64 Processor
567 SPECint2K and 532 SPECfp2K (higher performance
is available at higher power dissipation - contact factory)
Estimated Typical Power 45 Watts
Up to 4 GB of DDR333 SDRAM memory
Phoenix Bios
VME Interface
VME64x front panel latches
Universe II VME64x interface
System and front panel LEDS
Expansion Capabilities
Carrier board PCI I/O expansion option supports up
to four (4) PMC slots
The Themis TA64 VMEbus computers support 32-bit Sun Solaris
8, 9 and 64-bit Solaris 10, Linux, Windows XP and WindowsServer
2003. Solaris 10, Sun's latest release, is today's preferred
software development platform, with advanced multi-threading
performance advantages, real-time characteristics, and a wide
choice of off-the-shelf third party software.
The TA64 is designed for a wide range of industrial and
military applications. The TA64 offers an easy performance
upgrade for UltraSPARC II and x86 based systems. Its low power
and single slot configuration provides a performance boost
with minimal or no system redesign.
